Morara Kebaso Drops Bombshell: Kenyans ‘Financing Corruption’ Through Tribal Politics.

Activist-turned-politician Morara Kebaso is pushing for a major political overhaul: he wants Kenyans to contribute directly to political campaigns instead of relying on candidates who self-fund.

He argues that community-funded politics could slash corruption and restore accountability.Kebaso, leader of the INJECT Party, maintains that when politicians bankroll their campaigns with their own vast resources, they’re more likely to recoup that money by exploiting public funds later.

He says donated support creates a bond and “loyalty” between leaders and citizens, reducing the temptation for graft. He has defended his own fundraising approach vigorously. Rather than beg, Kebaso says he is building a transparent system where ordinary Kenyans can participate in politics financially — but only those who believe in his agenda.

Kebaso also warns that by relying on self-financed campaigns, wealthy politicians create a system warped by corruption. “If someone spends tens of millions on a campaign, they’ll recover it from your taxes,” he said. His call comes amid growing concern over tribal politics.

He accused some Kenyans of funding corruption simply by aligning themselves with ethnicity-based parties and giving money that entrenches old power structures. Kebaso has urged the country’s young people — especially Generation Z — to reject the status quo.

He is advocating for new political parties run by Gen Zers, built on principles, not corruption. On governance, he’s also made headlines for criticizing what he calls “recycled leadership.” He recently slammed a growing coalition of older politicians, accusing them of offering little vision and perpetuating the same corrupt structures.

But his approach and fundraising model haven’t come without controversy. Critics question whether public “donations” might still create influence over policy. Meanwhile, some skeptics argue that this system favors leaders who can mobilize a crowd rather than those with the best ideas.

As the debate heats up, Morara Kebaso’s push for a new political-financing paradigm could become a defining issue — especially as Kenya heads toward its next general election.
