Meeting at State House Fails to Avert Aviation Workers’ Strike.

A meeting was held at State House. It included top officials of the Aviation Workers Union and government officials. They couldn’t reach an agreement.

They not avert an impending strike at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). President William Ruto chaired the meeting. Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and Labour counterpart Alfred Mutua attended it.

The meeting aimed to persuade the workers’ union to call off the planned strike from September 1. The goal was to prevent a crisis in the aviation sector. The meeting was over the controversial JKIA-Adani deal.

Impending Crisis in Aviation Sector

The meeting at State House on Monday evening, August 26, did not succeed. It didn’t prevent the strike by aviation workers at JKIA.

The Aviation Workers Union and government officials not reach an agreement. This lead to a crisis in the aviation sector. President William Ruto and key officials attempted to persuade the union to cancel the strike. Their efforts were unsuccessful.

Efforts to Avert Strike Unsuccessful

President William Ruto and government officials made efforts to avert the strike at JKIA. The meeting held at State House did not result in an agreement with the Aviation Workers Union.

The planned strike from September 1 potentially disrupt operations at the airport and create challenges in the aviation sector.
