Man detained after it was claimed he had raped his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter for a full year.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after being accused of raping his girlfriend’s four-year-old daughter for more than a year in South Africa.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), were called out to Buffelsdraai KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, July 28, 2024, after the accused was apprehended.

On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that the suspect and his girlfriend were consuming alcohol at a party at a neighbour’s house on Saturday night when the suspect left without informing his girlfriend.

She returned to their home and found him naked and attempting to r*pe her daughter.

She called out for assistance but her boyfriend severely assaulted her and the child before he fled.  He returned to the area the following day and was apprehended by the community.

It was alleged that he was raping the child for approximately one year. 

The suspect was placed under arrest and detained at South African Police Service (SAPS) Verulam.
