Luo Nyanza Reaps Benefits: ODM Lauds Ruto Partnership

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is celebrating the successes of its partnership with President William Ruto’s government, with party chairperson Gladys Wanga highlighting the benefits accrued to the Luo Nyanza region.

Speaking at a church service in Bondo, Siaya County, Wanga cited several projects, including the Rironi-Mau Summit dualling, the SGR extension to Kisumu, and the upgrade of Jaramogi Odinga Odinga hospital to a level 6 facility, as evidence of the partnership’s impact ¹.

ODM leader Oburu Oginga emphasized the party’s commitment to the broad-based agreement, asserting that it has secured development for the region. He urged supporters to remain focused on the partnership, despite some internal disagreements within the party. Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi echoed these sentiments, stating that the region is behind President Ruto for re-election in 2027.

However, not all ODM members are on board with the partnership. Nairobi Senator Ewin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino have expressed concerns, advocating for ODM to assert its independence. President Ruto has expressed optimism about a possible coalition with ODM in the 2027 elections, targeting a decisive victory ² ³.
