Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor—better known as Jalang’o—made headlines this morning with a bold pronouncement: President William Ruto is “firmly on track” to win re-election in 2027, and so far there is “no one who can beat him.” Jalang’o’s remarks, delivered during a candid interview with radio host Alex Mwakideu, were unequivocal and timed to send shockwaves through Kenya’s political landscape.
“President William Ruto will be re‑elected by a wide margin. I haven’t seen anyone who can defeat him,” stated Jalang’o, whose confidence echoes mounting perceptions of Ruto’s grip on power. He dismissed speculation about potential challengers, declaring, “Ruto going home is going to be hard, and getting him from that seat is going to be harder.”
Jalang’o attributed his convictions to what he described as “observation and the reality on the ground,” not partisan loyalty. He focused squarely on performance metrics and development benchmarks, noting that Ruto has “made considerable progress” delivering on campaign promises and advancing infrastructure and public service projects.
“All the promises that he made during his campaign are now being delivered,” the Lang’ata MP said, in what many are interpreting as a strong endorsement of the president’s agenda.

Political analysts and opposition strategists are now watching closely. With Kenya’s 2027 campaign season still in its early stages, Jalang’o’s remarks are likely to intensify pressure on opponents to marshal stronger, performance‑based platforms rather than rely solely on party affiliation or emotional appeals.
Despite murmurs that the opposition may rally around a new face, Jalang’o asserts no candidate has yet emerged with sufficient clout or momentum to mount a serious challenge. In his view, the election’s outcome will be decided not by identity politics, but by measurable delivery on development and governance.
As political temperatures rise across the nation, Jalang’o’s public backing effectively frames Ruto not merely as an incumbent—but as an incumbent delivering results that resonate on the ground. Whether the opposition can respond with equal force remains to be seen.
