Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament, Peter Kaluma, has encouraged the Kikuyu community to refrain from pressuring President William Ruto.

He emphasized his commitment to national unity post the 2022 elections. Some Mt Kenya leaders have threatened to withdraw support if Ruto does not respect his position as the Deputy President.

Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru is leading the charge for the region’s autonomy.

In response, Kaluma, an ODM MP, dismissed the demands of Mt. Kenya leaders. He asserted that all Kenyans are integral to the government.

He also emphasized that no community should assume a privileged position in the new political landscape.

He criticized the perceived entitlement and disrespect shown by some leaders from the Mt. Kenya region, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation among all Kenyan citizens.

Kaluma’s statement underscores the call for inclusivity and cooperation in Kenya’s political sphere. It highlights the importance of moving beyond ethnic divisions.

It also emphasizes embracing a collective national identity. Kaluma advocates for unity and rejects notions of special status for any community.

He aims to foster a more cohesive and harmonious political environment in the country. His message resonates with the broader goal of promoting national cohesion and inclusiveness in Kenya’s governance.

Kaluma’s stance reflects a commitment to transcending ethnic politics. He promotes a more unified and inclusive approach to governance in Kenya.

He challenges notions of entitlement and emphasizes the shared responsibility of all Kenyan citizens in the government. He advocates for a more cohesive and collaborative political landscape. This prioritizes national unity over divisive ethnic interests.
