Kalonzo Drops Political Bombshell: “I’ll Meet Ruto—But Only for This!”

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that while he is open to discussions with President William Ruto on selecting the next IEBC chairperson, he has no intention of forming a political alliance with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Addressing speculation about possible negotiations with Ruto’s camp, Kalonzo dismissed such claims as baseless rumors. Speaking at the launch of Moving Beyond Limitation, a book by Gladys Muthui, at Gospel Outreach Church in Nairobi, he reassured his supporters that he has not engaged in any secret dealings with State House.

“If it’s about deciding on the next IEBC chairperson, I’m willing to meet Ruto. But beyond that, let’s be clear—there will be no political agreements,” Kalonzo stated.

Reaffirming his ambition to run for the presidency in 2027, he emphasized that his next encounter with Ruto would only be during a transition of power. Kalonzo also took a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga, criticizing his cooperation agreement with President Ruto, which he described as a betrayal of the opposition.

Meanwhile, the process of appointing a new IEBC chairperson is set to move forward, with interviews scheduled to begin on March 17. The selection panel has outlined interview dates, with candidates such as Charles Nyachae, Anne Amadi, and Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo among those shortlisted for consideration.
