The inspection will involve officials from the ministries of Education, Interior, National Administration, Health, and Department of Public Works. Officers from county governments and the Kenya Red Cross will also take part.

The government aims to find reasons behind recent school fires and take appropriate action. Ogamba emphasized strict measures. These measures will be taken against those who violate safety guidelines. This is outlined in the Basic Education Act, 2013.

The Safety Standards Manual for Schools in Kenya serves as a blueprint. It ensures learner safety in both public and private schools. Most schools adhere to the guidelines.

Nevertheless, recent incidents like the tragic fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri Country highlight the importance of strict enforcement. The government urges schools to enhance safety measures ahead of upcoming national examinations.

Nambale MP Mulanya has called for urgent school safety reforms, emphasizing the need for compliance with safety policies.

Mombasa has also launched a fire and safety audit in schools after the tragic incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy. The government’s inspection aims to prevent such tragedies and guarantee a safe learning environment for all students.
