Gachagua Speaks on Forming Mt Kenya Political Alliance

Gachagua was in his hometown in Nyeri where he attended a church service at the Ishamara Baptist Church in Mukurweini Constituency

While acknowledging that the recent impeachment affected him deeply, Gachagua remained resolute in his refusal to forgive the political opponents responsible for his removal

In light of a recent series of reconciliations that saw President William Ruto improve his relationship with Raila Odinga and more recently with Uhuru Kenyatta, Gachagua dismissed rumors that he would reconcile with his former political foes

“Betrayal within our community is unacceptable, it is an offense that is never overlooked. Once committed, there is no way to fix it. The issue is settled,” the former DP stated

“The mountain has progressed, albeit in disgrace and dishonor. But there is no solution. “

“So those analysts attempting to predict what will transpire, that is your answer, and as you are here; time will reveal. “

Gachagua’s recent remarks come just a week after President Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta convened at the latter’s residence in Gatundu, with political commentators noting that the meeting could exacerbate challenges for the impeached Deputy President, especially in the Mount Kenya area

During the Sunday service, Gachagua reiterated that he would soon reveal his next political plans

“We as a region have faced humiliation, our pride has been diminished. However, we will reformulate our strategy and shortly reclaim our pride and dignity as a community. “

The former deputy president also commented on the recent assault against him in Limuru, criticizing Inspector General Douglas Kanja for not apprehending any suspects weeks after the event

Gachagua also asserted that there is a targeted agenda against some of his allies, such as Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, who was summoned for questioning regarding the incident

At the same time, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, a prominent ally of Gachagua, also supported the former DP’s views on Sunday, warning against any further political treachery

The governor strongly suggested that any Mount Kenya leader who would accept a position in President Ruto’s cabinet would be deemed a traitor

“If there is a position that should be offered to Nyeri, it should be the presidential position, not a cabinet role. We do not seek cabinet positions,” he declared
