Musiriri Church of God in West Bunyore ward, Emuhaya constituency, Vihiga County is embroiled in a controversy involving land acquisition and misappropriation of NG-CDF funds.
Residents from Musiriri are accusing the church of seizing land originally donated by the late Hezekiah for church use.
The church is now purportedly using this land to divert Emuhaya NG-CDF resources through a proxy project aimed at constructing an ECDE (Early Childhood Development Education) school.
Angry locals voiced their frustration to the press at Itumbu, pointing out that the church’s actions have left the poor family who donated the land in a dire situation.
The church collaboration with Emuhaya CDF under MP Omboko Milemba has raised questions about the legitimacy of the funding.
Residents are puzzled as Emuhaya CDF allocated Ksh 800,000 to process the title deed for the land and an additional Ksh 1.5 million for the ECDE construction without conducting public participation.
They are also questioning why Emuhaya CDF is funding a new ECDE project at Musiriri when a fully functional ECDE class exists nearby at Essaba Primary School.
