Juja MP George Koimburi Abducted in Broad Daylight During Church Service!

In a dramatic turn of events straight out of a thriller, Juja MP George Koimburi has been kidnapped—just two days after narrowly escaping a similar attempt in a daring motorbike getaway.

The stunning abduction happened in front of a stunned church congregation on Sunday afternoon, May 25. Worshippers at the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, watched in horror as unknown men stormed the service and forcibly dragged the MP into a waiting Subaru vehicle.

Adding to the shock, the MP’s wife was injured while trying to resist the attackers, according to Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa, who spoke exclusively to the media.

“They’ve been trailing him since last week. He got away once—this time, they got him,” said Senator Thang’wa, visibly shaken. “He escaped on a motorbike during a bursary event. It was pure luck.”

The chilling ordeal reportedly began on Friday, May 23, when Koimburi was distributing scholarships at Gachororo Primary School. Detecting danger, the MP abandoned his official car and driver and sped off on a motorbike, vanishing into the crowd. His driver was later picked up by DCI officers, interrogated, and released.

Then—nothing.

For two tense days, Koimburi’s whereabouts remained a mystery. Rumors swirled. Was he in hiding? Had he been taken? The silence was deafening.

And then, on Sunday, the plot thickened.

The lawmaker reappeared—only to be snatched again moments later during the Mugutha church service. Eyewitnesses say the attack was swift and calculated.

This is not the first time Koimburi has pulled off a last-minute escape. Back in February, while speaking to journalists outside the Kiambu Law Courts, he again bolted on a motorbike, evading arrest in connection to six charges, including academic certificate forgery—allegations tied to a case nearly 30 years old.

So far, the motive behind the MP’s abduction remains unclear. His supporters are demanding answers, pointing fingers at unknown forces behind what they describe as a coordinated campaign to silence him.

As the dust settles, many in Kenya are left wondering—who is after Koimburi, and why now? The nation watches, anxiously waiting for answers.
