Ex-Busia Governor Ojaamong Cleared of Sh8M Corruption Charges in Stunning Court Twist!

The Anti-Corruption Court has acquitted former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong of all seven corruption-related charges in the infamous Sh8 million scandal!

Delivering the jaw-dropping judgment, Chief Magistrate Eunice Nyutu declared that the prosecution utterly failed to prove its case, freeing Ojaamong and his co-accused from what many had thought was a legal noose.

Ojaamong, who had been staring down allegations of economic sabotage and abuse of office, was on trial alongside a roster of former county officials and business partners.

The accused list read like a who’s who of Busia County’s past administration: Benard Yaite (then CS for Water, Environment & Natural Resources), Lenard Ombira (former CS for Finance & Economic Planning), Allen Omachari (Chief Officer for Finance), Samuel Ombui (Head of Treasury), Edna Odoyo (Finance Manager at Madam R Enterprises Ltd), along with Renish Omullo, Sebastian Hallensben, and Madam R Enterprises itself.

The charges were severe—ranging from conspiracy to loot public funds, making illegal payments for ghost services, to flouting financial laws and misusing public office for personal gain.

But in a verdict that no one saw coming, the court ruled that the prosecution’s evidence was riddled with loopholes and inconsistencies—effectively crashing what was believed to be an airtight case.

Is this a clean bill of health for Ojaamong or a dent in Kenya’s fight against graft? The nation watches closely as another high-profile corruption case collapses.
