SHOCKING! Ruto FIRES KICC Boss Irungu Nyakera in Sudden Power Move!

In a move that has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, President William Ruto has ruthlessly axed Irungu Nyakera from his position as chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). The abrupt dismissal, announced in a Tuesday, April 1 gazette notice, has left many stunned, fueling speculation about the real reasons behind his removal.

In a dramatic shake-up, Ruto has installed Samuel Waweru Mwangi as the new boss of the high-profile convention center, with an ironclad three-year term set to begin on April 1, 2025. The president wielded his executive authority under Section 43 (1) (a) of the Tourism Act and Section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act to execute the sudden switch.

“The appointment of Irungu Nyakera is hereby revoked,” the decree declared, marking the end of his tenure in a cold, matter-of-fact manner.

But instead of lashing out, Nyakera responded with unexpected humor, taking to social media to mock his unceremonious exit. “What an honor to be fired through a special announcement! They couldn’t even wait until Friday,” he quipped, leaving followers in disbelief over his calm demeanor.

The timing of his removal has ignited debate, especially given his recent decision to snub Ruto’s highly anticipated visit to Mount Kenya. Just days ago, Nyakera made it clear that he wouldn’t be present for the president’s tour, citing academic commitments at Oxford University. However, political insiders are whispering that his absence may have been a strategic move amid the shifting alliances between Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, following the dramatic impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Nyakera, known for his firm stance on regional development, had previously urged the people of Mount Kenya to push for progress over political wrangling. “In the last election, our people voted for development. When the president visits, let’s focus on projects, not politics,” he had advised—a statement that now carries a different weight in light of his removal.

His dismissal is the latest twist in a career marked by high-profile appointments. From serving as Principal Secretary in the Transport Ministry to overseeing Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), and later taking the reins at KICC, Nyakera has been a fixture in government circles. His unanimous selection as party leader of the Farmers Party of Kenya in 2023 further cemented his political influence—until now.

With his exit, the question lingers: Was this a routine leadership change, or is there more to the story?
