In a fiery warning that has sent shockwaves through the Ministry of Health, newly appointed Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has declared war on corrupt officials blocking the success of the Social Health Authority (SHA). Anyone caught sabotaging reforms will be kicked out—no second chances!
Speaking during the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations at Adams Arcade Mosque on Sunday, Duale vowed to crush powerful cartels within the health sector who he accused of deliberately derailing the government’s push for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“I have spoken with President William Ruto, and he fully backs my mission. Let me make this clear—universal healthcare is a right for every Kenyan, and I will not tolerate anyone standing in the way,” Duale thundered.
Then came his chilling ultimatum: “If you are in this ministry for personal gain, your time is up. Either serve Kenyans or leave!”
Despite being in place for nearly six months, SHA is still struggling to take off, weighed down by public skepticism and internal sabotage. Reports have surfaced that rogue government officials are colluding with private hospitals to frustrate the system—causing payment delays and denying services to patients.
SUPKEM Chairperson Hassan Ole Nado also exposed a shocking scheme: some private hospitals are deliberately limiting SHA services to force patients into paying cash!
“We have seen hospitals manipulating SHA payments, cutting down funding for patients using the program. This is unacceptable,” Ole Nado revealed, urging Duale to crack down on the culprits.
Duale didn’t hold back, warning that any Ministry of Health official more interested in personal profits than public service “will be shown the door.”
Adding fuel to the fire, the CS confirmed that most private hospitals in residential areas will soon be shut down as SHA takes full effect. A staggering 60% of these clinics, he claimed, were established through fraudulent dealings under the now-defunct NHIF, and their days are numbered.
