Court Petition Seeks to BLOCK IEBC Interviews Over Alleged Youth Discrimination!

A high-stakes legal battle is unfolding as a court petition aims to slam the brakes on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) recruitment process! The explosive claim? Young, qualified candidates are being deliberately ignored in favor of a flawed selection process.

Moses Mwaga, Angela Mbuthia, and Dickson Morara Omoke—the three individuals behind this legal showdown—are accusing the IEBC of running a recruitment exercise that directly violates the Constitution. They insist that the selection process lacks fairness, merit, and transparency, calling it a complete betrayal of legal and ethical standards.

The petitioners have urgently requested the court to issue an immediate halt to the ongoing interviews until their concerns are fully addressed.

“If this unconstitutional process is allowed to continue unchecked, taxpayers will bear the financial burden of an illegal exercise that blatantly disregards key principles of fairness, diversity, and inclusion,” the legal documents warn.

Even more shocking, the petitioners claim the IEBC is systematically sidelining Kenya’s youth—despite many being fully qualified for the positions.

“The second respondent is still conducting interviews and may soon propose candidates for appointment, shutting out deserving young applicants,” they argue.

With the interviews for the positions of IEBC Chairperson and Commissioners already in progress since Monday, March 24, 2025, and set to continue into April, this lawsuit threatens to throw the entire process into turmoil!
