Mike Sonko Takes Over as Boda Boda & Tuk Tuk Boss, Vows to Crush Criminal Cartels!

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been overwhelmingly chosen as the Patron of Kenya’s Boda Boda and Tuk Tuk Transport Cooperative Union.

In a statement on Monday, March 17, Sonko expressed appreciation to the union’s leadership for entrusting him with the role, vowing to champion the rights and welfare of boda boda and tuk tuk operators across the country.

“This cooperative brings together all Saccos and associations in the transport sector, representing over 2.5 million members nationwide. I deeply appreciate the confidence placed in me and pledge to fight for their rights,” he stated.

Sonko also issued a stern warning against criminal elements exploiting the sector, vowing to crack down on rogue operators and cartels tarnishing its reputation.

“To those engaging in illegal activities within the boda boda industry, your days are numbered. We will not allow a few individuals to damage the image of this essential sector,” he cautioned.

He further committed to spearheading initiatives aimed at restoring discipline and professionalism in the industry.

“My leadership will be focused on ensuring order, integrity, and a professional transport system. Kenyans deserve a disciplined and well-managed sector,” he assured.

The Boda Boda and Tuk Tuk Transport Cooperative Union seeks to address key challenges affecting operators, including policy regulations, safety concerns, and financial empowerment.

Additionally, the union collaborates with organizations like the Tuk Tuk Operators Network to unify industry stakeholders and promote socio-economic advancement within the informal transport sector.
