Maraga Sparks Presidential Speculation as He Backs Youth Activists and Critiques Ruto
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has stirred speculation regarding his political aspirations after hosting civil society leaders and Gen Z activists at his home yesterday.
During the gathering, Maraga commended young activists for their relentless efforts to transform Kenya, underscoring his support for their calls for accountability and reform.
Photos and videos widely circulated show Maraga singing alongside activists, including heartfelt performances honoring protesters who lost their lives during demonstrations.
Although he has not formally announced any political ambitions, his involvement with reformists has ignited discussions about a possible challenge to Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Following the meeting, Maraga, who recently criticized the Government for the rising incidents of abductions and extrajudicial killings, took to social media to reaffirm his dedication to justice and human rights.
He stated, “I was inspired by your passion and commitment to transform Kenya into a better place for everyone. The youth’s struggle for a better Kenya deserves all our support. ”
His comments quickly drew a flood of messages from Kenyans encouraging him to consider running for president against Ruto in 2027.
We paid a courtesy call on @dkmaraga.
We updated him on the movement’s fight for good governance, the rule of law, and constitutionalism, issues he resonates with deeply. We welcomed him as a member of the movement, and he joined us in song as we invited him to the struggle to liberate Kenya.
