Rongo MP Paul Abuor Arrested in Ksh122M Scandal Linked to Fake Companies and Fund Misuse!

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) apprehended Rongo MP Paul Abuor on Thursday over accusations of embezzlement and conflict of interest.

EACC detectives allege that Abuor played a key role in awarding tenders worth Ksh122 million from the Rongo National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to companies linked to him and a close relative during the 2017/2018 to 2024/2025 fiscal period.

Reports indicate the MP created a private company that secured contracts for classroom construction and borehole drilling. Another company, registered under his assistant’s name, received Ksh19.6 million for additional NG-CDF projects, with the assistant acting as the sole director and bank account signatory.

EACC officers revealed, “The MP’s assistant managed a company receiving Ksh19.6 million from Rongo Constituency NG-CDF and had full access to its bank accounts.”

Following his arrest, EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud stated this operation is part of ongoing investigations into widespread misappropriation of devolved funds, including the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) and the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF).

Mohamud further highlighted cases of fraud through conflicts of interest, ghost employees, and payments for non-existent services.

The MP is currently at EACC’s Integrity Centre Headquarters, where he is recording a statement. EACC has urged public officials to uphold ethical standards and avoid exploiting their positions to betray public trust.
