Man Travelling To Nairobi has been Arrested With Ksh.1.8M Cocaine Hidden In His Shoes.

A 24-year-old suspected drug trafficker was on Friday arrested after police discovered 417 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated Ksh.1.8 million, concealed under the inner sole of his shoes.

Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives apprehended Charles Obaga Kavehere after intercepting a Score Investment Ltd bus, en route to Nairobi from Moyale, in Thika. Kavahere was among the passengers.

A quick search on the suspect led to the discovery of the controlled substance.He was subsequently taken to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), where screening tests established that he had ingested additional drugs.

“Besides the 417g estimated at Sh1.8 million, he had swallowed more drugs that he intended to egest at the destination,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a statement on X.

Kavehere, who remains in the custody of ANU officers, faces pending legal action as authorities await him to egest the swallowed drugs.
