Ruto admonishes all contractors managing government projects

President William Ruto inspects the construction of the Kisii Cancer Centre on January 1, 2025.

President William Ruto has issued a warning to all contractors engaged in national government projects, stressing that the upcoming year will not tolerate any laxity among those failing to meet performance expectations.

During his visit to the multi-billion shilling cancer center site in Kisii, President Ruto expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the project, which he inaugurated in August 2024.

This stern announcement follows months of criticism aimed at the government for neglecting essential infrastructure projects.

“There is no conflict; there is no dispute. We simply need to achieve our objectives, and I will not tolerate this situation. You have received full payment, there are no outstanding certificates, and there is no justification for the project’s stagnation. This must be made explicitly clear, as many contractors are letting us down, and we will not permit this. This is the year of delivery,” Ruto stated.
