Kenyans are confused about the truth regarding the statements made by President William Ruto’s government and the Catholic Church concerning the president’s contribution to Soweto Church.
This confusion arises from differing claims about whether the funds were returned after Catholic Archbishop Phillip Anyolo refused the donation.
In a statement on Saturday, Anyolo indicated that they had returned all the funds that Ruto had contributed.
Conversely, Ruto’s government, represented by National Assembly Leader of the Majority Kimani Ichung’wah, accused the church of being misleading.
According to Ichung’wah, the Catholic Church has not yet returned all the funds rejected by Ruto.
Additionally, Ichung’wah pointed out that the Catholic Church was also being untruthful in informing Kenyans that it had returned part of the funds that were pledged and not yet received.
“I want to emphasize that the money Ruto donated to the Catholic Church has not been returned yet. “
“I urge elected leaders to show respect for their peers as they too have been chosen by God to serve Kenyans,” Ichung’wah stated.
