Treasury PS Kiptoo Responds to Sh120M Spy Software Allegations

Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo has refuted allegations of his involvement in the procurement of classified espionage software intended to monitor anti-Ruto supporters on social media.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kiptoo requested that the media outlet responsible for the article retract the report and publicly apologize.

Furthermore, he indicated that he would pursue legal action if the publishers do not comply with his request.

Kiptoo asserted that the authors of the article had failed to confirm the facts prior to publication, which has adversely affected his reputation. “I hereby respectfully request an immediate retraction of the story and a public apology for the damage inflicted on my reputation and character,” the statement read in part.

“If the newspaper does not take corrective action, I reserve the right to pursue all legal remedies available to protect my name. ” Additionally, the PS clarified several allegations regarding the involvement of the National Treasury in the procurement of the alleged software.

“The article asserts that ‘confidential accounts’ exist within the National Treasury, from which funds would supposedly be allocated for the alleged scheme,” he stated. “This is completely false. ” No such accounts exist, and the operations of the National Treasury are regulated by stringent legal and regulatory frameworks that guarantee transparency and accountability.
