Son of Gachagua’s Late Brother Defends DP’s Wealth Claims

The son of the late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has publicly denied allegations of being disinherited from his father’s properties. Ken Nderitu stated that his uncle, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has educated him about business. The estate of his late father has been managed in a manner that would have pleased him.

“My uncle has taught me a lot about business. He has ensured the estate of my late father is handled in a way he would have been satisfied with.” He asked others not to exploit his family’s grief for political gain.

This was in response to Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai’s inquiry about his whereabouts, stating, “Where is Ken Nderitu? He is over 35 years old now.” Alai stated, “He requested Rigathi to guide him on managing a family business. Yet, he is absent to support his claims.”

The Deputy President has criticized his political opponents for referencing his late brother’s will in the impeachment motion against him.

Senior Counsel James Orengo has accused the Deputy President of improperly accessing funds from his late brother’s accounts.

During the impeachment hearing on Wednesday, Orengo raised questions. He questioned how Gachagua handled his brother’s will. This issue is central to the impeachment case.

He asserted that the Deputy President “raided” his brother’s accounts and utilized the funds to acquire valuable properties.
