Why George Wajackoyah Wears a Durag.

George Wajackoyah, the leader of the Roots Party, recently explained the significance behind his choice to always wear a durag. He views the durag as a symbol of slavery.

It symbolizes the ongoing enslavement of Kenyans by Western nations and their own leadership. Wajackoyah believes that the durag serves as a statement against this oppression and calls attention to the need for liberation.

During the 2022 general election in Kenya, Wajackoyah ran for the Presidency under the Roots party. He advocated for the legalization of bhang in the country.

Despite coming in third place behind President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, Wajackoyah’s unconventional campaign style garnered attention. It included wearing a durag along with a tracksuit and T-shirt. Many youths supported him.

His promises to boost the economy through unique exports like bhang and snake venom resonated with some voters.

Wajackoyah’s choice to wear a durag as a political statement reflects his views on the ongoing oppression faced by Kenyans. By donning this symbolic headwear, he aims to challenge the status quo.

He wants to draw attention to the need for liberation from Western influence and ineffective leadership in the country. His unconventional campaign style has made him a notable figure in Kenyan politics. His policy proposals particularly resonate among the younger generation.
