Giant Snake Sighted Along Kericho-Kisumu Highway.

Motorists and pedestrians have been stopping at Kona C-junction along the Kericho-Kisumu highway. They want to catch a glimpse of a giant snake that is approximately six feet long.

The snake has become a local tourist attraction. People have been stopping to view it from a distance over the past two weeks. Residents have reported seeing the snake coiled on tree branches early in the morning, generating fear among the community.

A boda boda rider named Elvis Cheruiyot recounted his meeting with the snake. He described it as huge and around six to seven feet long. He saw the snake crawling from the road into the nearby forest.

He expressed fear as it was his first time seeing such a creature. The Kenya Wild Service senior station warden, Paul Sigilai, confirmed that a team of officers had visited the area. They observed the reptile in its habitat within the wetland area of Kona C.

The senior station warden emphasized that the giant snake is in its natural habitat. He cautioned residents against harming it. The forest provides protection for such creatures from predators.

Snakes are known to prefer slow-moving water bodies with vegetation, making the forest an ideal habitat for them. Sigilai urged residents to avoid encroaching on the snake’s territory and to coexist peacefully with the wildlife in the area.
