The murderer of REX MASAI could escape justice since the DPP won’t bring charges against any cops who murdered or seriously injured Generation Z.

The investigation into Rex Masai’s tragic death has taken on new turns. This comes as a result of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) revealing that the CCTV footage of Masai’s shooting did not clearly identify the shooter.

This cast a shadow over the investigation and raised serious concerns regarding the accountability and transparency of police operations. The ODPP made a statement that there was a significant omission in the evidence, which was made more difficult by the unwillingness of important witnesses to testify.

The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has submitted four investigative files regarding the use of force by police during protests against the Finance Bill.

In any case, the journey for equity stays frustrated by a resistance from the people who saw the occasions. Due to a lack of evidence, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Renson Ingonga, stated that his office has not yet been able to prosecute any police officers for misconduct during the Gen Z protests.

According to Ingonga, “the files by IPOA have revealed that witnesses remain reluctant to come forward.” In the case of Rex Kanyeki Masai, where those who transported him to the hospital have remained silent, the absence of witness statements is particularly troubling.

The DPP asked anyone who knew anything about the shooting to help with the investigation.

“I call upon any person with information pertaining to this case, especially the witnesses who took the deceased to the hospital and those who witnessed the shooting, to come forward and record a statement with IPOA,” the ODPP pleaded. “I call upon any person with information pertaining to this case.”
