Members of Parliament on Thursday, June 20 took a vote for the controversial Finance Bill 2024 at the second reading in the National Assembly.
The majority side appointed Robert Okose and Erick Wamumbi as their tellers while the minority side picked Julius Mawathe and Jared Okelo.
“The following have been appointed by the whips as the tellers, for the ayes, Robert Okose, Erick Wambui. For the nays Julius Mwathe and Jared Okelo,” Wetangula stated.

The Finance Bill 2024 sailed through the second reading despite the heavy opposition from Kenyans.
A total of 204 MPs voted in favor of the bill while 115 voted against it.
“The results on the division on the second reading of Finance Bill 2024 are as follows, ayes 204, nays 115, abstentions nil. The ayes have it,” National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula announced.
The bill will now move to the third reading where the National Assembly will go into the committee of the whole house and go through each clause proposed in the bill before voting.
