KCSE D-Day Arrives: KNEC to Unleash 2025 Results This Friday

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially made it known that the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be made available to the public on Friday, January 9, 2026, thus the huge expectation of nearly one million candidates, parents, and educational stakeholders all over the country.

The announcement has put an end to the uncertainty and anxiety, which have been very high across the country for weeks.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Ogamba, is going to publicly announce the results at a very prestigious event in Eldoret that starts at 9:30 a.m., and this ceremony is expected to invite and draw in a lot of government officials, school leaders, and students’ representatives from all over the 47 counties of Kenya.

The official release signals the end of the national examination cycle for 2025, which witnessed close to 996,000 candidates taking KCSE tests in November at thousands of designated examination centers. The process of marking was finished in December, and those involved in the last-minute preparations of ensuring the quick and easy access of scores via KNEC’s online platforms have been very busy lately.

KNEC has, in the past few days, opened the provisional results portal online to handle traffic in advance of the formal release, which is a rare early move aimed at putting the systems to their maximum capacity ahead of Friday’s expected high volume.

Education officials have been telling the students and their parents to only use the official channels to get the results, and at the same time, they have been warning that the fraudulent grade-fixing scams that are being circulated on social media and messaging apps are likely to become more widespread as the release time approaches.

The situation is dire: KCSE scores will not only be the basis for admission to higher learning institutions but also the main factor for awarding scholarships by the government and deciding the students’ placement through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

The impatience or incorrectness in the announcement of results may cause disturbances of great magnitude, especially among those students who are competing for a small number of places in university and for the most sought-after programs. There is a consensus among analysts that the results of this year could play a big part in the public debate about the quality of education and trends in national performance.

KNEC officials have made it clear that in order to have a process of secure and smooth dissemination of results, the results would be accessible only through the official KNEC portal and would require the index numbers and names of the candidates for verification.

Authorities have promised to take immediate action against the fraudsters who would be making false claims that they can change the results or that they can provide unauthorized access.
