6 People Killed in Tragic Road Accident as Lorry Knocks Down Several Pedestrians.

At least six people were killed on Saturday evening, June 22, after a lorry veered off the road in Timau, Meru County, along Meru-Nanyuki road, knocking down several pedestrians.

Confirming the incident, Buuri West Sub-County Police Commander Laura Imbacha, the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle before hitting the pedestrians.

The six died on the spot, while several others were injured and rushed to various medical facilities around the town for treatment.”On reaching the location of the accident, the driver lost control.

He knocked down several pedestrians and the lorry landed in a ditch. As a result, four male adults and two juveniles died on the spot and several pedestrians were rushed to unknown hospitals by good samaritans,” Imbacha told the press.The bodies of the deceased were moved to Nanyuki General Hospital mortuary.

The incident comes days after four people were killed after a bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident on Friday, June 14, in the Gof Chopa area along the Marsabit-Moyale Highway.

According to reports, the bus lost control and veered off the road before it overturned. As a result, the four passengers were killed on the spot while 41 others were injured.

Marsabit County Police Commander Nyambu Mwakio, who confirmed the accident, noted that the deceased were two men a woman and a young girl.
