24-Year-Old Landlord Refuses Repairs Unless Tenants Follow Him on Social Media! đ±

A tenant has shared a bizarre encounter with his 24-year-old landlord, who reportedly prioritizes social media engagement over property maintenance. According to the tenant, any complaints about issues in the buildingâsuch as a leaking roofâare met with a requirement to subscribe to the landlordâs YouTube channel and follow his Instagram before any repairs are considered.
Taking to social media, the tenant described his frustration, explaining that rather than addressing urgent concerns, the landlord insisted on increasing his online following first.
âMy landlord is 24. Whenever you reach out to him about an apartment issue, his response is always the same: âFollow me on Instagram and subscribe to my YouTube channel first,ââ he wrote.
The tenant also recalled an incident in which the landlord abruptly exited a tenants’ WhatsApp group chat. Apparently, someone had replied to one of his messages with â???ââa reaction the landlord interpreted as disrespectful. In response, he left the group within five minutes of joining, despite frequently using the same â???â himself, even when speaking to his lawyer.
In another revelation, the tenant disclosed that the landlord had instructed his attorney to raise rents by 35%, citing his own increased living costs in Lekki, where his rent reportedly jumped from âŠ5 million to âŠ7 million.
“And this is the guy weâre supposed to rely on for fixing things? Someone we havenât even met in person?” the tenant questioned.
As the post gained traction online, netizens shared their thoughts on the unusual situation:
@Arhcent: “Watch outâthis kind of landlord might publicly shame you on X if you’re late on rent. Thatâs a new nightmare unlocked.”
@ndictmedia: “Your landlord is a businessman through and through. Heâs monetizing every aspect of his life. Just follow his rules and move on.”
@iamtoch1: “Instead of complaining, why not ask him how he became a landlord at 24? Thatâs actually impressive.”
@EMZO_001: “This is hilarious. The guy is definitely a Gen Z tech bro. Imagine him calling the cops on you just for refusing to follow him online!”
@kalyxmoses: “And yet, you haven’t dropped his social media handles here for us to help outâand maybe get a rent discount. Do we have to teach you everything?”
@AimThaMachine_: “If he actually fixes things once you follow him, then whatâs the issue? Let the man build his brand, and you can be part of his success story.”
@stephenaaay: “Negotiate with him. Bring him 100 new followers and subscribers, and in return, you only pay half the rent!”
