Lang’ata Detectives Probe Mysterious Death of Teen Found in Boyfriend’s House
Authorities in Lang’ata, Nairobi, are investigating the puzzling death of a 19-year-old girl who allegedly passed away while celebrating her birthday at her boyfriend’s residence.
Police received a distress call about an incident in Mbagathi but found insufficient evidence to determine what led to her death. Forensic experts are now awaiting toxicology results to shed light on the case.
The young woman had left home to mark her birthday with friends. The group of five kicked off the celebration at a popular spot along Lang’ata Road before eventually splitting up. Later, she accompanied a female friend to the boyfriend’s house. Around midnight, the friend left, leaving the teen and her boyfriend alone.
A witness recounted that they had been enjoying themselves when the boyfriend decided to go to sleep. Shortly after, the friend departed. The next day, repeated attempts to reach the girl were unsuccessful. At around 5 p.m., the boyfriend made a chilling phone call, revealing that she had died.

“When he returned at 5 p.m., I met him on the stairs. He asked if I had the key because the house was locked. Moments later, he found a spare key and unlocked the door. When he stepped inside, he called me over, saying she was in bed and unresponsive. I went in and confirmed that she was indeed dead,” a witness revealed.
News of her sudden death devastated her loved ones, with her father collapsing upon hearing the tragic update.
“I arrived at the scene and found a huge crowd. I was in shock and fainted. We rushed to Mbagathi, and there she was lying lifeless,” her father, Momanyi Atisa, lamented.
Faith, who had recently completed her secondary education with a B grade, was set to join university this year. Her father, who had worked tirelessly to support her studies, expressed his sorrow over her untimely passing.
“She had a bright future ahead of her. I sacrificed so much for her education, and now she’s gone just like that,” he mourned.
A postmortem examination revealed that the cause of death was asphyxiation, with a large amount of water found in her lungs. Investigators have collected additional samples for toxicology analysis to uncover more details. Meanwhile, her boyfriend remains in police custody as the probe continues.
