According to National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, the inability of Kenyans to engage in productive economic endeavors is the cause of their financial struggles.
“Money originates from economic activities. As long as a significant portion of the population is not involved in productive tasks, there will be a lack of money in their pockets,” Ichung’wah explained.
During an interview with KTN on Wednesday, Ichung’wah enumerated several initiatives the government has launched to enhance the living standards of Kenyans during their two years in office.
To begin with, he pointed out the fuel shortages faced in 2022 and the elevated prices that he confirmed have been decreasing monthly.

Naturally, he also referenced the reduction in the dollar exchange rate from Ksh162 to Ksh129 and the subsequent decline in the price of unga.
“While Kenyans may continue to debate the high cost of living, it is not an isolated issue. In the US election campaigns, they also discussed the cost of living. Even in the UK, there were demonstrations over the weekend regarding the same topic,” Ichung’wah remarked.
He further indicated his belief that the Kenya Kwanza government will soon be justified and that the measures they have implemented over the last two years will yield positive results.
“Time will prove us right. I am confident that, in time, Kenyans will recognize that what they believe to be falsehoods is not as they perceive,” he stated, adding that this assurance stems from his faith in President Ruto’s vision for Kenya.
In response to the frustrations of Kenyans, despite the government’s ongoing efforts to create jobs and income, the Kikuyu MP mentioned that criticism from his constituents was something he anticipated prior to entering politics.
“If I sought a job where criticism did not exist, I would have continued my previous career in meat sales,” he remarked.
“In today’s environment, one must be generous enough to acknowledge and accept that criticism will come, but as long as you stay focused and are confident in your actions, you will persevere. ”
