Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya Rebels Against Ruto’s Merger Plan! “We Will Not Be Swallowed!”

Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya party has slammed the brakes on a high-stakes push to dissolve and merge with President William Ruto’s UDA — defiantly rejecting what insiders are calling “a political swallowing scheme.”

“Ford Kenya is NOT for sale!” declared Secretary General John Chikati in a fiery press briefing. “We are not sacrificing our legacy at the altar of political convenience.”

This bombshell rejection lands just as UDA scrambles to consolidate power ahead of the 2027 elections. Ford Kenya’s refusal to dissolve now fractures the Kenya Kwanza alliance, sending shockwaves through Ruto’s strategic game plan.

At a tense, closed-door summit in Naivasha over the weekend, attended by party bigwigs — including MPs, governors, MCAs, and top officials — Ford Kenya emerged from the smoke declaring independence and ambition. The party will field its own candidates in hotly contested upcoming by-elections, including in Malava, Ugunja, and Banissa, where both UDA and Rigathi Gachagua-linked factions are also eyeing control.

And that’s not all. Ford Kenya is going full throttle:

  • A total party rebrand is underway with a fresh logo, new slogan, and vibrant colors.
  • A Gen Z offensive is launching — with university and college chapters and a bold Youth Charter.
  • A special task force has been deployed to map out battleground strongholds ahead of 2027 in Turkana, Kilifi, Vihiga, West Pokot, and beyond.

“We are not dissolving. We are REVIVING,” said Chikati. “Ford Kenya is entering the next election stronger, bolder, and ready to take on any party, anywhere.”

This shock resistance comes as Ford Kenya’s coalition deal with UDA edges toward expiry in 2027. Political analysts say Wetang’ula’s move has thrown a wrench in Ruto’s grand merger plans — threatening to fragment Kenya Kwanza just as the battle for 2027 begins to heat up.
