Waiguru Urges Mt. Kenya to Stay Loyal to Ruto, Warns Against Gachagua’s Influence
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has cautioned Mt. Kenya against following former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, suggesting that it could lead them astray. This statement follows Gachagua’s promise to guide the region in anticipation of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at the opening of Kiandai Dispensary in Kiini Ward, Waiguru urged Mt. Kenya residents to be discerning and to reject attempts by figures like Gachagua to divert their support from President William Ruto’s administration.
She affirmed the commitment of Kirinyaga residents to the Kenya Kwanza government and criticized some politicians for employing deceptive tactics for personal gain.
“Kirinyaga will not side with the opposition simply because a few individuals are disgruntled. We will not disregard our achievements due to past events,” she stated. “It is unrealistic for all leaders to oppose one individual unless he is a source of the problem. ”
Waiguru encouraged wisdom and respect within the community, reminding leaders that public office is built on trust, and political rivalries should not jeopardize national stability. “We will not dismantle our foundation over minor issues. Instead, we will stay and make necessary repairs. Mt. Kenya unanimously supported this government, and our focus should be on ensuring development opportunities,” she asserted.
Recently, there has been increasing tension in the Mt. Kenya region towards Ruto and his government following the impeachment of Gachagua.
