Tragic End: Student Found Dead, Note Left for Lecturer

The student’s body was discovered hanging from the top of an apartment wall in Waiteithie Estate, Nairobi, on Wednesday, December 11, at approximately 9:00 am.

Witnesses reported that passers-by initially noticed the body suspended from the apartment and alerted other residents.

Shortly after, students from the institution arrived at the location and recognized the deceased as one of their own. During the identification process, the residents found a note believed to have been written by the deceased.

In the suicide note, the deceased expressed that he felt compelled to take his life due to ongoing financial and academic struggles.

He detailed his distressing experiences as a student at the institution, mentioning emotional challenges that he claimed severely affected his academic success.

The student also held one of the lecturers responsible for his difficulties, stating that the female lecturer frequently failed him in tests and compelled him to retake several examinations.

A few hours later, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

In response to the student’s death, a group of university students held protests regarding what they described as ongoing frustrations imposed by lecturers.

The students further criticized the university’s student leadership for ineffectiveness, asserting that the student leaders arrived only after the student’s body had already been transported to the mortuary for preservation.

“We have never protested before, but this time we are determined to do so. These student leaders came very late after the boy’s body was taken down from the wall,” stated one of the students.

“The lecturer must be dismissed; we have resolved that she cannot remain while this body has been removed, he conveyed a message outlining his experiences,” the student added.
