A deadly terror plot was uncovered Tuesday when a multi-agency security patrol made a horrifying discovery along the Kanyonyoo-Embu Highway a seemingly harmless milk carton hiding a lethal payload.
Inside the box? Ten powerful water gel explosives labeled EXPLOGEL V6, a detonating cord, and two electric detonators all en route to Meru in a meticulously planned operation that sent shockwaves through law enforcement.
The bus carrying the explosives was immediately impounded, and the driver, Lawrance Kioko Mutuku, along with the conductor, Said Rashid Amour, were swiftly arrested. But the story only deepened from there.
High-level forensic tracing by the DCI’s elite Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) and Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) led investigators to Brenda Imboyanga Makhulungu the alleged mastermind. Arrested in Mundutsu village, Kakamega, Brenda had reportedly disguised the explosives as a harmless package labeled “Dawa ya Maji” and cleverly routed it through multiple towns, including Kitui and Mombasa, before aiming it at Meru.

And the net keeps widening. Two more suspects David Tindi Andala and John Kariuki Kung’u were caught in Meru town as investigations intensify.
All suspects remain in custody, and the intercepted explosives are being held as key evidence in what authorities are calling a “massive, thwarted disaster.”
