Student Found Dead in Suspected Ruai Murder

A 22-year-old university student was discovered deceased following a suspected murder incident in the Ruai area, Nairobi.

The victim was recognized as Shadrack Omtita, 22.

His body was located on the morning of Monday, December 9, in an open field in the vicinity.

His mobile phone was found near the body, according to police reports.

Authorities suspect that unidentified individuals attacked the deceased, leading to his death in the field.

The body has been transferred to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.

No arrests have been made; however, police stated they are following several leads regarding the incident.

In a separate incident in Kariobangi, a 44-year-old man was sadly stabbed and killed during a robbery outside his residence.

Emmanuel Khamasi, an employee at a Nairobi hotel, had returned home around 2 am on Tuesday and, as usual, called his wife to unlock the main gate for him.

His wife informed police that she got up, threw the key to him as was customary, and went back to bed, unaware of the danger he was facing.

Police reported that it was at this moment that unknown assailants confronted Khamasi, instigating a struggle.

The attackers are believed to have targeted him for valuables, including cash and his mobile phone.

They stabbed him in the chest, resulting in his immediate death.

It wasn’t until 6 am that the wife realized he was missing from the house.

This occurred after neighbors called to inform her that a body was lying at the gate.

Witnesses noted she was devastated upon receiving the news.

Police subsequently arrived at the scene and transferred the body to the mortuary for autopsy and investigation.

Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei stated that operations have been initiated in the area to apprehend the gang responsible for the incident.

“We aim to bring them to justice for the family. This was a man returning from work whose life was abruptly taken,” he remarked.

Authorities are looking into the origin of 20 bullets found abandoned in a parking lot in the Umoja Two area of Nairobi.

A 10-year-old boy playing in the yard discovered a bag containing wrapped items.

He reported to police that he inspected the bag and found it contained 20 live rounds of 7. 62 mm ammunition, typically used for rifles.

The boy notified his father, who then collected the items and delivered them to the local police station.

Police confirmed they are investigating the origin of the bullets following the Sunday evening incident.

The investigation team suspects the bullets may belong to someone serving in one of the country’s disciplined services.
