State House Officer Shoots Civilian Dead Over Betting Dispute!

Nairobi police have launched an intense investigation into a chilling incident where a police officer linked to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed allegedly gunned down a civilian in cold blood.

The victim, 35-year-old Amos Lagat, met a brutal end after the officer reportedly fired multiple rounds into his chest and abdomen at point-blank range in Kawangware. Witnesses recount that the altercation stemmed from a heated argument at a local bar in the Amboseli area—Lagat had won a bet, while the enraged officer had lost. Tensions escalated, and moments later, gunfire shattered the night.

Lagat was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the damage was fatal—he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In a bizarre twist, the accused officer sprinted to the police station and spun a completely different tale, claiming he was ambushed by robbers and had fired in self-defense. According to his report, three men confronted him as he walked home around 8 PM on Sunday, forcing him to discharge warning shots. He even alleged that one of the attackers briefly wrestled his Ceska pistol away before he reclaimed it and fired into the air.

Muthangari Police Station has taken over the investigation, with officers piecing together witness statements and analyzing CCTV footage to uncover the truth.

Meanwhile, the officer, who claims to have suffered an arm injury in the scuffle, has been disarmed and taken to the hospital. Lagat’s remains have been moved to Chiromo Mortuary as authorities dig deeper into this shocking case.

This horrifying event comes just weeks after another alarming shooting involving a General Service Unit (GSU) officer who shot a colleague on February 26. That officer was assigned to protect a foreign President’s home in Nairobi’s high-security Gigiri area.

As the investigation unfolds, many are questioning whether justice will be served—or if this will become another case of impunity.
