A 26-year-old South African man has been arrested in Nairobi after allegedly luring a 17-year-old local schoolgirl to a hotel in Westlands through the dating app Tinder. The teenager’s disappearance last month prompted a swift investigation by Kenyan authorities.
According to reports, the girl had recently joined Tinder at the encouragement of a classmate. Shortly after creating her profile, she matched with Bradley Zwane, who was staying at a luxury hotel in Westlands. Within days, the teenager had vanished from her home, leading her parents to report her missing to the Kibra Police Station.
Investigators traced her to the Westlands hotel, where they discovered five Kenyan passports—four brand new and one with recent travel stamps from South Africa and Russia. The room also contained several used condoms, raising further concerns.
Zwane, now in custody, claimed he believed the girl was of legal age. He stated that when he inquired about her age, she said she was 18, as indicated on her Tinder profile. He added that she had told him her birthday was the previous day and that she had completed high school and was awaiting university admission.
