Shock and Chaos: NTSA Brings Down the Hammer on Super Metro!

In a dramatic crackdown, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has completely revoked the operating licence of Super Metro Limited, bringing the company’s entire fleet to a grinding halt! Until the firm strictly obeys the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and satisfies several harsh conditions, their vehicles are officially off the road.
In an explosive announcement on Thursday, March 20, NTSA issued a chilling warning to commuters: “Do NOT board any Super Metro-affiliated vehicles!” The public has been put on high alert, and traffic officers are on strict orders to seize any rogue Super Metro vehicles defying this ban!
A shocking investigation uncovered alarming irregularities within the company’s 523-vehicle fleet. A staggering 15 vehicles had expired inspection certificates, while eight were operating with invalid Road Service Licences (RSL)—a blatant violation of safety standards. Even more horrifying, numerous drivers lacked proper qualifications, turning Super Metro’s vehicles into potential death traps.

For the company to even dream of reinstating its licence, it must drag 294 non-compliant vehicles to the Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and secure clearance. On top of that, 42 drivers notorious for reckless speeding must undergo strict retesting after an earlier disaster saw 64 Super Metro drivers fail their retests on March 10, leading to their licences being revoked!
But that’s not all. Super Metro is under immense pressure to prove its commitment to lawful employment—NTSA demands ironclad contracts for drivers and staff, along with payroll records, tax compliance (PAYE), and six months’ worth of NSSF and NHIF remittances.
In an unprecedented move, NTSA is forcing the company to retrain its entire driving crew on road safety and provide detailed proof—complete with attendance records, meeting minutes, photographs, and signed documentation. NTSA officials will personally oversee the process to ensure no loopholes are exploited.
This bombshell suspension follows a string of deadly incidents involving Super Metro vehicles. The final straw? A horrifying case on March 12, where a tout allegedly threw a passenger off a moving bus for failing to pay fare. While the company swiftly punished the tout and driver, the chaos doesn’t stop there—angry passengers have flooded NTSA with complaints about reckless speeding and sheer disregard for road safety.
With the transport giant teetering on the brink, one question remains—will Super Metro clean up its act, or is this the beginning of its downfall?
