SHAKE-UP! President Ruto Drops Cabinet Bombshell, Fires Muturi & Reshuffles Key Ministries

Kenya’s political landscape was rocked on Wednesday, March 26, as President William Ruto unleashed a fresh wave of government changes, booting out key officials and shaking up his Cabinet.

In a stunning move, Geoffrey Ruku was named the new Public Service Cabinet Secretary, replacing Justin Muturi, whose exit follows a fierce public fallout with the president. Meanwhile, Hanna Wendot has been nominated to spearhead the Ministry of Gender and Culture.

The shock didn’t end there—Aden Duale has been abruptly yanked from his role as Environment CS and reassigned to the Health Ministry, while Deborah Barasa has been shuffled from Health to take over the Environment docket.

“This reshuffle is meant to maximize efficiency within the Cabinet and ensure it operates at full constitutional capacity,” declared State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed in a statement.

Muturi’s dramatic ousting comes just a day after Ruto openly called him “incompetent” during an Iftar meeting at State House. The former AG had been under fire for allegedly mishandling legal matters, with Ruto now placing his trust in a new appointee to clean up the mess.

As the dust settles, Ruku and Wendot’s nominations will now head to Parliament for vetting before final approval. However, this bold power play has already sent shockwaves through the political arena, raising eyebrows over Ruto’s strategy and the future of his administration.
