
SADAM BUKE, the man allegedly abducted by masked individuals in Meru, is linked to an armed militia group.
The National Police Service (NPS) has refuted claims that Sadam Buke, an Isiolo resident, was kidnapped at a hotel in Meru.
According to the police, Buke was arrested and remains in custody under suspicion of being a facilitator for the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Isiolo and Marsabit counties.
“We want to clarify that Sadam Buke is in legal custody with others. He is suspected of being a key facilitator and coordinator of the Oromo Liberation Army in both Isiolo and Marsabit Counties,” stated the NPS.
The Oromo Liberation Army is an armed opposition group operating in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region.
The OLA is mainly composed of former armed members of the Oromo Liberation Front who did not disarm after a peace deal and former youth protesters disenchanted with nonviolent methods.
Police indicated that his arrest, along with other suspects.
