Ruto:Gachagua left parliament without sponsering any bill

President Ruto has launched a fresh attack on his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of wasting five years during his tenure as the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency between 2017 and 2022.
The latest remarks escalate an ongoing bitter exchange between the two leaders, each seeking to discredit the other.

Speaking while inspecting Karabok Adiedo road in Homa Bay County, Ruto claimed Gachagua performed poorly in Parliament, alleging that he failed to sponsor any motion or Bill and did not contribute meaningfully to debates.

“He was in Parliament for only one term; he didn’t bring even a single motion to Parliament, no Bill—five years wasted,” said Ruto.

Ruto further described Gachagua as lacking a credible track record, accusing him of promoting negative ethnicity and discrimination.

“A person who has no track record at all is now going around to churches and funerals telling us that he wants to spread tribalism. I am telling that person of the ‘unclean spirit,’ tribalism, and incitement: he will get no chance in the Republic of Kenya. He neither has a track record nor does he have a plan for this nation,” he added.

He also alleged that Gachagua failed in his duties as Deputy President, including mismanaging responsibilities in the coffee sector by allegedly extorting farmers and failing to effectively lead efforts against illicit alcohol in Central Kenya.

The Head of State dismissed Gachagua’s leadership ambitions, stating he lacks a development agenda and warning against tribal politics, insisting such leaders have no place in the country’s future.

Ruto also turned his criticism toward other opposition leaders, saying they lack vision, an agenda, and a development plan for Kenya.

He dismissed the United Opposition’s chances of winning the presidency and criticized their claim of being an alternative government, maintaining that Kenyans are focused on leaders who can deliver tangible development and improve livelihoods.

At the same time, Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga defended cooperation with Ruto, citing development gains and contrasting them with what she described as limited progress during the previous handshake government.

Earlier, the President attended an inter-denominational prayer service at Agoro Sare High School.

The President later visited Oyombe village, where he launched construction of the Adiedo-Karaboko road linking Kasipul and Karachuonyo constituencies.

He announced several development projects, including the establishment of a fishermen’s rescue center on the shores of Lake Victoria at a cost of Sh250 million, the procurement of a rescue boat worth Sh70 million, and the allocation of Sh2.4 billion to connect 26,000 households to electricity in the county.

Ruto was accompanied by CS John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, former Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, among other leaders.
