The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing a legal challenge ahead of its Special Delegates Convention scheduled for March 27, 2026, in Nairobi. A party member, Vincent Chepkwony, has filed a complaint questioning the legitimacy of the convention notice and the eligibility of some delegates.

The complaint alleges that the notice was issued by the Deputy Secretary General, Catherine Omanyo, instead of the Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, as required by the party constitution ¹.
The convention is expected to bring together senior party officials, branch leaders, and representatives from across the country to deliberate on key party matters ahead of future political activities.
However, the complaint raises concerns about the Youth League leadership’s age eligibility and pending internal elections in several counties and branches.
The complainant demands that the party publish the full list of delegates and address the concerns within three days to avoid potential chaos at the convention. ODM officials have not publicly responded to the complaint .
The Special Delegates Convention is also expected to address the removal of Edwin Sifuna as the party’s Secretary General, which has sparked internal divisions within the party.
The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved to remove Sifuna from his position, but he has obtained a court order blocking the move .
