MP Peter Salasya Ambushed, Detained by Masked Gunmen with AK-47s—Claims It’s a Political Attack!

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has allegedly been detained by heavily armed, masked individuals whom he suspects to be undercover DCI officers.

The dramatic incident reportedly unfolded along the Isiolo-Nanyuki highway, shortly after the MP addressed a political rally in Isiolo.Salasya described the shocking ambush as a life-threatening encounter.

“They opened fire on my convoy!” the MP exclaimed, narrating how the attackers, wielding AK-47 rifles, intercepted his vehicle and disarmed his bodyguards.

Although he managed to escape initially, the ordeal didn’t end there.“One of my security men helped me flee and hide in a nearby bush. These weren’t ordinary attackers—they looked like trained commandos, and they came for me with a chilling message I can’t even repeat for my own safety,” Salasya disclosed, visibly shaken.

The MP, who recently announced his bold ambition to run for the presidency in 2027, now believes this could be a politically motivated operation meant to silence or intimidate him.

He insists he has never attacked the government in his campaigns and has only championed peace and national development.

“This was not a random arrest. This felt like a hit job. Why now, right after I announced my 2027 bid?” Salasya questioned, raising concerns over increasing political intimidation.

Just days ago, Salasya made headlines when he formally declared his candidacy for President in the 2027 General Election, promising bold reforms, economic empowerment, and social justice.
