A woman was brutally attacked and killed by a furious crowd in Sindo Town, Suba South, Homa Bay County, after being accused of kidnapping a 1.5-year-old child.
The woman, named Jane Atieno, was allegedly seen taking the child while visiting the mother to buy firewood. After the child went missing, the mother questioned Jane, who denied any involvement. The mother then raised the alarm, and the public swiftly confronted Jane, wielding weapons.
Jane was rushed to Suba sub-county hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Deputy County Commissioner Beatrice Odira condemned the act of mob justice and urged the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
