The body of a Masinde Muliro University lecturer, reported missing since Saturday, has been recovered from the Jordan River. The family, represented by Ebulonga chief Evans Ouya, raised concerns about the whereabouts of Dr. Jairus Omuteche, who allegedly vanished after visiting his farm adjacent to River Jordan.
Ouya confirmed that the three-day search concluded on Monday evening when divers located his body approximately 15 kilometers away, near an intersection where the river converges with River Yala. On that day, Omuteche had planned to prepare his cowshed. He took sticks from his farm adjacent to the River Jordan and did not return home.
“We could see some fiddles already cut in his farm, but one was lying in the flowing river waters. ” “This raised suspicion that the late lecturer may have drowned, prompting the family to intensify search efforts in the river before he was found for retrieval on Monday afternoon,” stated Ebulonga Location Chief Evans Ouya.
“Luanda detectives have taken up the case to determine the cause of Omuteche’s sudden death,” he added.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Itando Mission Hospital morgue as police initiate investigations into the incident that led to the university don’s demise.
“He is one of the few educationists we have. ” He also established a fund to sponsor children from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing their higher education, in addition to employing local youth to assist him in various development projects. Ouya mourned the late Masinde Muliro University lecturer.
