Missing Naivasha Clinical Officer Found Buried Behind Her Home—Househelp Arrested.

A shocking end to a week‑long disappearance: Clinical Officer Jane Wambui Njoroge was discovered dead in a shallow grave buried behind her Naivasha residence, just one day after her long‑time househelp was arrested and led investigators to the site.

Jane, a pediatric clinical officer at Naivasha County Referral Hospital, had not been seen since leaving work on July 4. Her husband reported her missing two days later, triggering a high‑stakes search led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Naivasha Sub‑County Police Commander Antony Keter confirmed that detectives detained 30‑year‑old Mary Chebet, who had served as Jane’s househelp for several years. Under interrogation, Chebet guided officers to the burial spot behind the family home, where Jane’s decomposing body lay wrapped in clothing tied around her neck.

Initial forensic examinations suggest Jane sustained blunt force trauma before burial, though officials are pursuing further suspects who may have assisted in the crime or its concealment.

Colleagues Demand Justice, Medical Community Mourns

The Kenya Clinical Officers Association issued a strong statement calling for a thorough and transparent investigation. They praised Jane as a dedicated health worker and cancer survivor whose resilience inspired many even after she lost her eyesight during treatment.

Friends and fellow medics described Jane as compassionate and committed, deeply missed both by her patients and peers .

Husband Speaks of Betrayal and Heartache

Her husband, John Kimani, expressed shock and deep betrayal at the arrest of Mary Chebet—a domestic worker whom the family had housed and supported for years. Kimani recounted how he first learned of Jane’s disappearance on Sunday, July 6, and later authorised a forced entry into their home when she could not be reached by phone.

“It was a deep shock to learn that the person we took in and trusted may have had a hand in this brutal act,” he said .

Public Suspicion Grows As Community Demands Answers

Residents of Raini Village in Naivasha expressed outrage and disbelief, questioning how a trusted househelp remained silent throughout a citywide search. Some local voices suggest Chebet may not have acted alone.

Police have acknowledged the possibility of additional suspects and continue to probe motives, including whether the murder was premeditated .

What Happens Next

Mary Chebet remains in DCI custody pending arraignment. Authorities have pledged to release more details as the investigation progresses and forensic results return.

Clinics and hospitals across Nakuru County have rallied around Jane’s family, honouring her sacrifice and calling for accountability. The clinical officers’ association is coordinating with civil society groups to ensure the case receives national attention.

The brutal murder of a respected medical professional in her own home has reignited national discourse on domestic trust, workplace safety, and the protection of female professionals. As demands for justice intensify, the nation watches closely—for answers, for closure, and for assurance that such violence will not go unpunished.
