Body of Missing Mlolongo Man Found at City Mortuary as Family Demands Justice
A body believed to be one of the missing Mlolongo men has been identified at the City Mortuary in Nairobi, according to family lawyer and Senator Dan Maanzo, who revealed the development during a court session on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Justus Mutumwa Musyimi, was reportedly found lifeless in Ruai before being taken to the mortuary. Maanzo confirmed that the family had identified the body and called for a full-scale investigation into the circumstances of his death.
“A preliminary assessment has confirmed that the body belongs to Mutumwa, who was a key party in an ongoing court case. This revelation comes as the legal proceedings continue,” Maanzo stated.
The exact cause and time of his death remain undetermined, and an autopsy is expected to provide further insights.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin appeared in court, refuting claims that Mutumwa and two other missing individuals—Martin Mwau and Karani Muema—were in police custody.
The three men were allegedly abducted on December 16, 2024, and their whereabouts had remained unknown.
IG Kanja told the court that official reports of their disappearance were recorded at Athi River and Mlolongo Police Stations, assuring the public that security remains a priority.
“I am here in compliance with a court order regarding the missing individuals. I want to reassure Kenyans that their safety is our top concern, especially following the festive season,” Kanja said.
DCI boss Amin insisted that the missing men were not under police custody and that investigations were ongoing.
“We want to make it clear that these individuals were not arrested or detained by the police,” Amin stated.
State Prosecutor Mark Baraza also confirmed that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has instructed the IG to conduct a thorough investigation, citing growing concerns over abductions reported both in mainstream and social media.
As the case unfolds, the family of Mutumwa is seeking justice, demanding answers about the circumstances leading to his death and the fate of the two other missing men.
