Man Arrested For Chopping A Woman & Gourging Eyes Out on Christmas Day

In a statement, the DCI revealed that its officers apprehended the individual responsible for the murder of a woman whose identity has not yet been confirmed. The suspect was located at his hideaway.

Subsequently, the suspect was placed in police custody for questioning as investigations into the case continued.

“A team of detectives from DCI headquarters has arrested the main suspect in the murder of an unidentified middle-aged woman on December 25, 2024, in Nakuru. The suspect had gone into hiding after committing this brutal act,” the statement indicated in part.

“Following an exhaustive search, the suspect has been discovered at his hideout at Tumaini shopping centre in Nyandarua County and is currently undergoing interrogation and additional police procedures before being presented in court,” the DCI added.

The police described the horrific nature of the murder whereby the victim’s body was found in the servant quarters of a home in Ngomongo, Bahati, and urged the public to refrain from committing such atrocious acts.

“On that tragic day, the suspect, who was employed in Ngomongo Village within Rurii Location, reportedly killed the woman, removed her eyes, severed her breasts, and then inflicted several injuries on her head and abdomen before placing her remains in a sack and fleeing from his staff quarter residence,” the DCI stated.

“Later, it is reported that his employer visited the staff quarters and found a stuffed sack soaked in blood, along with a hammer and a knife in a bucket filled with red water, which prompted her to notify the Workers Police Patrol Base,” the investigative body added.

“The scene was examined, and the victim’s remains were transported to Nakuru Annex Hospital Mortuary, as the search for the 25-year-old murder suspect began,” DCI noted.

While the motive for the murder has yet to be determined, it is believed that the suspect is related to the family where the victim’s body was discovered.

The Christmas Day murder in Bahati, Nakuru, is part of a series of Christmas Day killings in the county that police have since initiated investigations to uncover their underlying causes. In the Bahati sub-county, a Kenya Defence Forces officer was arrested after allegedly beating a 74-year-old man to death during an incident that marred the Christmas celebrations.

According to police, the two were part of a group celebrating when the officer, in a fit of anger, attacked the elderly man, resulting in his death. The officer is currently in detention at Githioro Police Station.

In a separate incident, residents of Elementaita, Gilgil Sub County took to the streets on Boxing Day morning, protesting the cold-blooded murder of a 75-year-old woman who was raped and killed under mysterious circumstances on Christmas. Investigations to uncover the suspect and motive behind this tragic event are currently ongoing.
